Bridal Showers: Think Outside The Square

July 14th, 2010

The bridal shower is an old tradition that became an opportunity for the bride to be given household items with which to start her new life. These days, they are still a gift-giving opportunity but they are also a chance for the bride to celebrate her upcoming wedding with family and friends.

The proceedings at a bridal shower are quite predictable – guests arrive, everyone plays some games, the bride opens the gifts, everyone eats then leaves. One bridal shower is almost the same as another. The benefits of bridal shower themes are widely known.

Could you plan a bridal shower with a difference? Be creative to host a bridal shower with a spark of difference? Here are some different ideas to help you with the planning of a bridal shower with a difference, one that is certain to be talked about for weeks after.

Try and come up with different venue ideas. Perhaps you could have a picnic in a park? Perhaps there is a local park with a bandstand that you can use, or spread colorful rugs under some shady trees. Large market style umbrellas could be used for shade and in case of rain.

Could you try a progressive bridal shower? The first house is where everyone meets and plays the games before moving on to the second house where the bride unwraps her gifts while the guests enjoy some wine and savories, and then the whole party goes to the last house for dessert, cake and coffee. The games could involve the trips that the guests will make to get to each house.

A coffee shop or a small restaurant are ideal venues for small bridal showers. Try to find a unique venue that stands out from the rest. Take a look at bridal shower favors shower for more details.

DC25 Vacuum

June 18th, 2010

The Dyson DC25 cleaner is an odd looking thing. For starters, it doesn’t have wheels, like most vacuum cleaners do. No, it has a ball. That’s right, the whole thing sits on a ball. The reason for that makes sense though. With a ball it’s easy to tilt, twist and turn around corners and obstacles. Ever wanted to do a 90 degree right angle turn with your vacuum? Well, now you can.

Actually it goes deeper than that (as does the suction, which we’ll come to). The motor is insided the ball, making good use of space and putting the weight low down. That helps even more with moving it about easily.

The DC25 has something called root cyclone tech. is used to ’spin’ the dirt right out of the air. There’s a cyclone going on inside the cleaner. The speed of the air spinning inside makes any dirt particles fall right down into the chamber. That leads to the big selling point of all Dyson vacuum cleaners: no loss of suction.

There’s no bag to get clogged so there’s never any loss of suction, even when the dirt chamber is nearly full. That gives you truly efficient cleaning.

The dc25 vacuum cleaner has a washable lifetime HEPA filter. The filter traps microscopic allergens, so things like pollen and bacteria get trapped. The air coming out of the vacuum is many, many times cleaner than the air you’re likely to breathe in your own home!

The ‘Animal’ version has a motorized brushbar - ideal to get rid of pet hair from carpets. You can turn it off if you need to protect delicate rugs or floors. Don’t worry about odour from cleaning up pet hairs.
